The SS16 selection of jewellery is always focused on holidays, Summer City, festivals and weddings.
But this year we also have the Rio Olympics and there is defiantly a nod to the bright and tropical this summer. We also see the introduction of some "retro" looking pieces including chokers for the New Nineties trend and the use of Pom Pom and Seychelles as charms.
The less brightly coloured pieces are focused on serenity and rose quartz as the pantone of the year colours and this trend is likely to last to AW16 but the tropical pinks may have quietened down a bit. AW16 will see much more architectural pieces and a nod to maximalism and 80s so anything that ticks all the above boxes is going to be an AW16 keeper as well.
There has been a move away from dainty pieces with writing on this summer. The summer is always best time to buy something less of an investment and more fun as the price points are low and the trends will change. The thing I love about this SS16 trends is that they are very interchangeable and it will be easy to buy a piee that can go with you on travels, work, festivals and pay homage to the 2016 Rio and colour trends.
We've had a look on the high street to find the best pieces to wear out and about this season. As usual all pieces featured in here must retail; for under £50.00.
Bright colours, bib necklaces and feathers, fruit charms. This is what the last few years of pine apples has been building up to, a tropical summer party. For the minimalist we've got the cute banana charm necklace from top shop and for the maximalist the statement purple feather necklace from River Island. For those looking for something in between we have the colorful hoop earrings from Topshop or the flamingo pendant from Tatty Devine.
When buying this summer for holiday it's great to pick up a few bits and pieces but don't forget that when you are on holiday it's the perfect time to buy something as well. Think beach friendly, poolside glam and evening pieces for those long dinners. I love this starfish ring for a beachy get away and you can keep this piece for next holiday too. The pom pom earrings are great for most holidays as you can wear them in a city break and more laid back travels. This is the same with the cute pom pom anklet. The other two pieces I've selected are two Seychelles necklace from H&M and Accessorize. A short bib necklace and long necklace with addition tassel decoration.
Festival is the most fun and crazy that you can wear all year. I think it's best to choose a pieces which you can don't mind taking to a place where it might get broken or worn out in the rain. Keep the spend to under £20 and go for one fabulous piece to wear through out the weekend rather than lots of pieces.
These pom pom earrings are a great shout for festival as they are such a reasonable price and a such a fun colour. It's also a great place to wear a chokers which are not as easy to pull off at work such as this ASOS festival choker and pom pom choker. The festival choker is very tribal and can also be worn at weekends and evenings after the festival. I also love this pom pom choker as it's very sexy and fun and a bargain at £6.00.
I also found this great arm bracelet which is perfect for those summer evenings at festivals. It's glamorous
